The dynamic clinical team of the MUSC Division of Hematology & Oncology is committed to providing exceptional patient care in oncology, malignant and benign hematology, and bone marrow transplant. Our clinical faculty sees patients at the Hollings Cancer Center, the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center, Medical University Hospital and Ashley River Tower.
Multidisciplinary Oncology Clinics
Our board-certified Hematologists collaborate with experts in many other specialties and are supported by a team of experienced nurses, advanced practice providers, and social workers to provide comprehensive care. Multidisciplinary clinics at Hollings Cancer Center allow patients with certain malignancies to see all their physicians (medical oncologist, radiation oncologist, surgeon, et al) in one appointment. Their cases are reviewed at tumor board conferences prior to the patients’ appointment so that state-of-the-art patient care and treatment plans can be implemented.
Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) Program
The Bone Marrow Transplant Program performs autologous, related and unrelated allogenic transplants using full preparative regimens and newer reduced intensity regimens. The BMT program is also a member of the National Marrow Donor program and a member of the International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research center. Since 2003, the BMT program has been accredited by the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT). The Division’s Bone Marrow Transplant Program has earned the Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) Distinction Plus designation. Through the Blue Distinction® Specialty Care program, hospitals are recognized as Blue Distinction Centers for their proven expertise, high-quality care, and patient results.
Our blood and lymphatic cancer physicians and advanced practice providers specialize in diseases of the blood and blood-forming organs, including acute and chronic leukemias, myelodysplastic syndrome, Hodgkin’s lymphoma, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and myeloma.
Our physicians specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of nonmalignant blood disorders, thrombosis, and disorders of blood cells.
