Feng Lab

Wuwei (Wayne) Feng M.D., MS
I am the PI for the lab, trained in Biostatistics (University of Alabama at Birmingham), Neurology (Medical University of South Carolina) and Vascular Neurology (Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School). My primary appointment is with Department of Neuroscience (College of Medicine) and co-appointment is with Department of Health Science & Research (College of Health Professions). I am a member of MUSC Stroke Center as well as The Center of Rehabilitational Science in Neurological Conditions. The major research interest of my lab is centered on stroke recovery and rehabilitation, including 1) Prediction of post-stroke motor recovery with multi-measures - including genetics and neuroimaging and behavioral measures; 2) non-invasive brain stimulation (Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation) or other novel techniques to promote post-stroke motor recovery.

Jenna-Lyn Johnson
I am a medical student currently training in the Doctor of Medicine program here at the Medical University, having earned a Baccalaureate from the College of Charleston in Biology and Informatics. I am a co-investigator in the lab, working primarily with data capture and analysis. Additionally, I have a seat on the Board of The Cares Clinic and serve as their Research Coordinator.

Lindsay Perry, PT, DPT, NCS
I am the Research Physical Therapist for Dr. Feng’s lab with the role of evaluator of participants for several studies investigating motor outcomes in persons post stroke. I am a graduate of the University of Florida’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program (2008) and recently became certified as a Clinical Specialist in Neurology for Physical Therapy with the American Physical Therapy Association. My primary appointment is a Research Associate for the College of Health Professions Department of Health Science and Research, Center for Rehabilitation Research in Neurologic Conditions and Adjunct Faculty for the Department of Physical Therapy.

Andrew Gundran, BS
I am a research assistant for Dr. Feng’s lab. I am a part of the Neuroimaging Division and also work for Jane Joseph and Chris Gregory. I recently graduated from Clemson University and plan to continue my schooling in graduate school for Neuroscience next fall. My main roles in the lab are mapping stroke lesion loads, constructing CST tractography, and also processing/analyzing brain stimulation images/data.

Maddy Athreya, MSCR
I am presently a graduate with a Master of Science degree in Clinical Research from the Medical University of South Carolina, and working as a research study and data coordinator in the Department of Neurosciences, Stroke center. Born in Bangalore, India, I am an Indian National and graduated from Osmania University, Hyderabad with a combined Bachelor of Science Degree (BSc.) in Biotechnology and Zoology. I also earned a Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) from the Institute of Clinical research India (ICRI), Bangalore. Along with these qualifications I have done Certificate Courses in Bioinformatics, Workshops including - PCR, HPLC, Gene Transformation and Ion exchange Chromatography (Ventura Biosciences) and successfully completed the Core Clinical Research Training (CCRT) at the Medical University of South Carolina.
