Pathology & Lab Medicine

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine of the Medical University of South Carolina offers a fully certified-four year AP/CP training program, as well as three-year AP or CP alone programs.

For AP/CP training program; 21 months of Anatomic Pathology core rotation, 18 months of Laboratory Medicine core rotations and 9 months of elective time are required. A graduate (Ph.D.) program in experimental pathology is available and may be coordinated with the residency-training program. Accredited fellowship positions are offered at the discretion of the Chair in forensic pathology, cytopathology, dermatopathology, hematopathology and clinical chemistry. A non-ACGME accredited surgical pathology fellowship is also available.

Twenty-two residency positions are available in anatomic pathology and laboratory medicine. Typically, five or six residents are taken at each post-graduate level.
