Welcome to the Graduate Program in the Department of Cell and Molecular Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics!
Our program is designed to train students in the rigors of scientific research, expose them to the contemporary experimental approaches, and train them in the design and interpretation of experimental data. Students will explore diverse areas of pharmacological research including mechanisms of drug action, drug discovery, drug delivery, and the various ways that pharmacological agents can be used in both research discovery and patient treatment. Faculty mentors specialize in diverse areas of research including receptor biology, kinase signaling and regulation, G-protein regulation, redox biology, cardiovascular biology, cancer cell signaling, glycoprotein biology, neurodegeneration, and addiction. Students will choose from core courses offered by the College of Graduate Studies which provides for didactic material that will prepare students for careers in academia, industry, and government research settings. Students will receive stipend support and tuition waivers throughout their graduate training pending satisfactory progress. There are a number of NIH Training grants available at MUSC to support students and provide for additional specialized training in specific research areas.
