Our mission is to create a culture dedicated to shaping the field of surgery to be more representative of our patient population. Our goal is to continue to expand our cultural understanding within our talented team, which leads to improved patient-centered care.

Our Goals

  • Celebrate and highlight the rich culture within our department
  • Provide educational support and resources to understand and address disparities within our patient population with an aim to improve patient outcomes
  • Create an environment that excels in cultural dexterity to allow all members to develop and grow professionally
  • Align the Department of Surgery's efforts with that of the MUSC enterprise

Meet Our Disparities Education & Cultural Dexterity Committee

The committee is a combination of faculty, staff, and residents who unite to provide various voices and unique perspectives. Our vision is to utilize an interdepartmental multidisciplinary approach to face challenges and create lasting solutions.
