ASE Medical Knowledge Objectives

The following is a list of learning objectives for medical students doing their third year core rotations in surgery. This document was derived from a publication of the Association for Surgical Education. We hope that MUSC’s students will use it as a guide to direct their study of surgery.

Students must demonstrate knowledge of established and evolving biomedical, clinical, and cognate (e.g., epidemiological and social-behavioral) sciences and the application of this knowledge in patient care, specifically for the following topics:
