MUSC Transplant 2nd Chance Showcase

The Showcase has been postponed. A new date has yet to be determined.

Over the past four years, the annual MUSC Living Donor Institute’s 2nd Chance Golf Invitational helped raise more than $500,000, providing essential funding to advance transplant education, patient support, and important immunotherapy research!  This year, we are taking a brief step away from the links to celebrate this significant progress with a signature event!

We will bring together business leaders, surgical innovators, philanthropic donors, and patients and living donors, for an inspiring evening as we continue to raise awareness of the need for living donor education, support and research.

For more information about sponsorship opportunities or how to get tickets, please contact Vera Ford, Director of Development at 843-792-1840 or fordva@musc.edu

The MUSC Transplant 2nd Chance Showcase will be complete with:

  • an open bar, hors d’oeuvres, dinner and entertainment
  • interactive innovation stations and inspiring talks

Joshua Mezrich MDOur featured speaker is Joshua Mezrich, M.D., University of Wisconsin transplant surgeon and author of  When Death Becomes Life.

A gifted surgeon with a sharp and intelligent wit, Mezrich is a much sought after speaker who explores what it means to be alive as he walks us through an illuminating and compelling account of transporting organs from one body to another in the process of transplant surgery.

More than 113,000 people currently await transplant nationwide. Each day 20 people die waiting for an organ transplant. Every 10 minutes someone is added to the transplant waiting list. And, the average wait time for a deceased donor is 3 - 5 years.

The MUSC Transplant Program is a nationally-recognized program that serves as a leading resource for transplant patients and live donors through the pursuit of innovation, education and research.  Funds raised from the event will match the Allen family’s gift to the Transplant Research Institute. With your help, we will change what's possible for transplant patients!
