MUSC Living Donor Institute 2nd Chance Golf Invitational

Thank you to everyone who supported our 2nd Chance Golf Invitational

Our 2nd Chance Golf Invitational and celebration reception began in 2016 with the dedicated support a small group of transplant recipients and their families. This year, we will not be hosting a golf tournament, but hope to host one in 2021!

The event at Crooked Oaks Golf Course on Seabrook Island provides a picturesque setting to celebrate transplant success and provides funding for an even brighter future.

Why another golf Tournament?

The MUSC  2nd Chance Golf Invitational and Celebration Reception has been the conduit for generous donors to support the MUSC Living Donor Institute. The event has raised more than $500,000 in three years, helping us reach our goal to provide better outcomes for those in need of organ transplantation.

Each day 22 people die waiting for an organ transplant.More than 120,000 people currently await transplant nationwide, including more than 1,000 in South Carolina. More than 85 percent of those people need a kidney transplant, and the numbers continue to grow.

Our Vision

  • Improving education and access.
  • Recruiting and retaining the world’s best transplant team.
  • Embracing innovation and collaboration in research, using team science to improve long-term survival, to prevent organ rejection and to discover alternatives to transplant.

Our Goal

The MUSC Live Donor Endowment aims to support the Living Donor Institute by raising $5 million to grow the transplant program. The endowment will provide a permanent, stable source of funding. Specifically, it will enable:

  • Funding for patient navigators and community education.
  • Expanded mobile health technology.
  • Dedicated research space and equipment for immunosuppression medication development and rejection prevention.
  • Recruitment of investigators.
