Robert Sade MD recognized as an Expert Institute World Expert

Robert M. Sade, M.D.,Robert Sade MD Distinguished University Professor, was recognized as an Expert Institute World Expert in Professional Ethics, as announced February 3, 2020, by independent ranking platform Expertscape.com. Dr. Sade received this recognition for being in the top 0.1% of scholars writing about Professional Ethics over the past 10 years.

His current positions at MUSC include Professor of Surgery and Director of the Institute of Human Values in Health Care, Director of the Clinical and Translational Research Ethics Program of the South Carolina Clinical and Translational Research Institute, and Head of the Bioethics Section of the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery.  

Dr. Sade served on the Society of Thoracic Surgeons Standards and Ethics Committee for 14 years, retiring in 2012 after 6 years as chair, and on the Ethics Committee of the American Association for Thoracic Surgery for 21 years, retiring in 2016 after 12 years as chair. He has chaired the Cardiothoracic Ethics Forum of the American Association for Thoracic Surgery and the Society of Thoracic Surgeons for over 20 years, and serves as Associate Editor of the Annals of Thoracic Surgery, among several other editorial boards.
