Mentoring and Advising Through Collaborations in Healthcare (MATCH)

College of Medicine (COM) Group on Diversity Affairs (GDA) is in the second year of the MATCH program, a spin-off the pilot program Minorities in Medicine which was founded at the College of Charleston. This program continues to be a supplemental program to assist with mentorship and advisement of students pursuing future careers in healthcare. Through collaborations with healthcare advisors, infinity groups, diversity officers and recruiters the program host panel discussions, professional career and academic advisement in addition to materials and resources that are distributed to individuals during visits and on an as need basis. MATCH is currently in collaboration with Clemson University, but will expand to other colleges in the near future.

Proud Moment

In 2018, 116 underrepresented students participated in MATCH. Of those students, 78 (67%) expressed specific interest in medicine as the field they aspire to enter.
