Dr. Anita Ramsetty M.D., CCMS received training in Internal Medicine at University of Florida, subspecialty training in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at Stanford University, and holds specialty certification in Culinary medicine through Tulane University. Dr. Ramsetty serves as the Director for Student Service learning in the College of Medicine and is the Associate Dean for Community Engagement. She has a strong focus on service to underserved populations in several diverse professional arenas. In healthcare delivery, she serves as Co-Director of the CARES student-run free clinic and helped lead expansion from the main site to two outreach clinics in efforts to address disparities in care. The St. Stephen Rural Outreach combines health screenings with food distributions that help address food insecurity and the Pediatric Prevention Clinic in North Charleston addresses the need for immunizations in children of families who cannot qualify for federal funding. In the realm of research and education she focuses on both education of interprofessional students and as well as healthcare systems operations to improve care of underserved populations experiencing social determinants of health that are adversely impacting health outcomes. Her overarching goal is to make a strong positive impact on the care of underserved populations through all three modes: teaching/education, research and service.
