Dr. Kira Adkins 

Dr. Kira Adkins is a native of Charleston, SC. and the daughter of Rev. Randy Adkins Jr. and Dr. Sherlonda Adkins. She is the oldest of three children and maintains close relationships with her 19-year-old brother, Dyran, and 16-year-old sister, Kayla. She grew up surrounded by her church family at Canaan Missionary Baptist Church and participated as a member of the Junior Usher Board as well as many other church events. At age 16, Dr. Adkins became the youngest person ever accepted into the MUSC College of Pharmacy’s Pharm.D. program. At 21, she made history again by becoming the youngest graduate. Throughout her four years at MUSC she dedicated time to serving as leader for student organizations, volunteering at local community clinics, and expanding her professional network. She is currently a resident at Prisma Health Upstate in Greenville, SC. In the upcoming months, she will be pursuing a second year of residency in pediatrics. Prior to her acceptance to MUSC, Dr. Adkins completed her high school degree at Academic Magnet in North Charleston, SC. She was active in her role in the Black Student Alliance and played basketball throughout all four years, including being captain of the team for two years. In her free time, Dr. Adkins enjoys hot yoga, leisure reading, journaling, and spending time with her puppy around the Greenville area. She is also an avid world traveler and has visited many countries including Greece, New Zealand, and Australia. Dr. Adkins wants to use her career and platform to inspire other young leaders to pursue their life goals.
