SPHINCTEROTOMY FOR ACUTE RECURRENT PANCREATITIS (SHARP)

Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) with minor papillotomy is a promising treatment option for those with pancreas divisum and acute pancreatitis, but there are limited data to show that the ERCP is the best treatment option. With the support of the National Institute of Health, more than 15 medical centers in the U.S., Canada, and Europe are performing a randomized control trial to determine if the ERCP benefits patients with recurrent acute pancreatitis and pancreas divisum.
