Visiting Medical Students

The Medical University of South Carolina will begin accepting applications on April 1 for the upcoming academic year that begins in June.

MUSC offers a wide number of electives and externship experiences to medical students who are in the final year of their studies. Students must have successfully completed the basic core clerkships (Internal Medicine, OB/GYN, Pediatrics, Surgery, Psychiatry, and Family Medicine) in order to be eligible. All approvals are at the discretion of the department.

Approval notices are sent via email and will include additional information and requirements.

Students Applying from Accredited U.S. Medical Schools

Applications from students enrolled in LCME- or COCA-accredited U.S. medical schools can be submitted through the Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO) beginning each year on April 1. Course offerings and application requirements will be available for students to review in VSLO by February 1.

Other Visiting Students

MUSC does not currently accept applications for clinical rotations from medical students who attend institutions that are not LCME- or COCA-accredited.
