Seminar Series

To promote digestive and liver disease research across campus, the Digestive Disease Research Core Center (DDRCC), with support from the Departments of Medicine, Regenerative Medicine & Cell Biology, and the College of Graduate Studies, offers two focused seminar series:

• GI & Hepatology Grand Rounds: This series highlights current clinical and translational advances in the diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal and liver diseases.
• Regenerative Medicine & Cell Biology Seminar Series: Sponsored by the Center for Digestive and Liver Disease (CDLD), this series explores basic science breakthroughs that uncover new mechanisms of GI and liver disease pathophysiology.

Both series feature talks by internationally recognized experts using innovative approaches to study and treat digestive and liver diseases. Seminars are available virtually to the MUSC community. For subscription details, please contact the DDRCC Center Manager.

Annual Retreat

Supported by MUSC’s CTSA and the College of Medicine, the annual Digestive Disease Research Center (DDRCC) Retreat brings together MUSC researchers and trainees with an interest in digestive and liver disease. The retreat features oral and poster presentations and serves as a key venue for sharing research, fostering collaboration, and engaging the broader MUSC community.

At the 6th Annual Retreat on April 11, 2025, 108 attendees participated, with 46 poster presentations and 7 oral presentations. The keynote speaker was Dr. Richard Peek, Professor of Pathology, Microbiology and Immunology, and Director of the Vanderbilt Digestive Disease Research Center at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC).

Retreat goals include:

1. Showcasing DDRCC investigator research
2. Promoting collaboration among GI and liver researchers
3. Highlighting DDRCC core and clinical services
4. Gathering community feedback on DDRCC activities
