Geriatric Medicine Fellowship

book_2 Learning Mode: Residential

Prepare for a Career in Comprehensive Geriatric Care

The Geriatric Medicine Fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) prepares physicians to lead in the care of older adults. Based in Charleton, South Carolina, this one-year fellowship provides comprehensive training across the full spectrum of geriatric medicine within a nationally recognized academic health system.

The Charleston tri-county region is experiencing rapid growth in its aging population. Within the next five years, adults age 65 and older are expected to make up nearly 25% of the local population, increasing the need for physicians trained in geriatric care.

Fellows gain hands-on experience in diverse clinical settings, including outpatient geriatrics, inpatient consult services, long-term care, and interdisciplinary care teams.

As South Carolina’s leading academic medical center and Level 1 trauma center, MUSC offers fellows exposure to a broad patient population, strong faculty mentorship, and a collaborative learning environment.

Graduates are eligible to sit for the geriatric medicine board exam and pursue careers in academic medicine, clinical practice, and health system leadership.
