Research & Scholarship

The Division of General Internal Medicine, Geriatrics and Palliative Care at MUSC conducts high-quality research aimed at improving patient care and health outcomes. Our areas of focus include health care disparities, hypertension, diabetes, access to care, aging and geriatric care, professional education, and medical informatics. We advance this clinical and health services research through close collaboration with faculty in the Department of Public Health Sciences, the College of Medicine, the College of Nursing, the South Carolina College of Pharmacy, the College of Health Professions, and the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center.

Section of Health Systems Research & Policy

The Section of Health Systems Research & Policy performs collaborative health systems research and quality improvement initiatives to ensure efficient and effective delivery of high quality, clinically appropriate prevention and care strategies to optimize population health and well-being. The Section’s areas of expertise include predictive analytics and modeling, outcomes assessment, process engineering and informatics, and technology assessment (e.g., Telemedicine, Bluetooth).
