Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology

Welcome to the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at the Medical University of South Carolina. The Department has active and vibrant programs in all of our tripartite missions – which include education, research, and patient care. The Department is currently made up of 5 divisions, including over 40 faculty members, nearly 30 residents and fellows, and a superb staff with outstanding skill and expertise.

With more than 40 physicians and researchers focused on Women’s Health who provide care in the Lowcountry, MUSC Health is proud to have earned U.S. News & World Report 2023 – 2024 national ranking as one of the top 20 hospitals for Obstetrics & Gynecology. The score is based on various data categories, including volume of high-risk patients, nurse staffing and patient survival.

Our vision is to provide excellence in patient care, teaching and research in an environment that is respectful of others, adaptive to change and accountable for outcomes. We strive to improve the health of women in South Carolina and beyond as we endeavor to become the preeminent care provider for women.

The MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital and the Pearl Tourville Women’s Pavilion state-of-the-art hospital opened in 2020 and has transformed how care is delivered to women and children in the Lowcountry.
