Reproductive Infectious Diseases Fellowship

book_2 Learning Mode: Residential

The Reproductive Infectious Diseases (RID) Fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) provides Obstetrician–Gynecologists with advanced training in the clinical care and research of infectious diseases affecting women. Established in 2008, the program accepts one fellow every other year and offers both two‑ and three‑year training pathways.

During the fellowship, trainees complete required clinical rotations in Adult Infectious Diseases, Pediatric Infectious Diseases, and Microbiology. Fellows also participate in specialized RID clinics, including a gynecology clinic for individuals living with HIV, a high‑risk obstetrics clinic for patients with infections such as HIV, hepatitis, and TORCH pathogens, a Pediatric HIV clinic, and an HIV continuity clinic. Through these experiences, fellows gain comprehensive expertise in infectious diseases relevant to women’s health.

The three‑year fellowship option includes the opportunity to pursue a Master’s degree in Clinical Research or Public Health, with coursework beginning in the second year of training.

Applicants interested in joining the program should submit a completed application by March 31. All applications are reviewed to determine eligibility for a personal interview.
