The Judges and Attorneys Substance Abuse and Ethics Seminar unites legal and clinical experts to present the latest information on substance abuse, related mental health issues, and the legal system's response to these challenges. Established in 1983 by John H. Magill, the founding CEO of Fenwick Hall Hospital, this annual seminar has been co-chaired by Magill and Capers Barr, III, Esq., for over 30 years. Many original planning committee members, including attorneys and judges, continue to serve. This educational event is sponsored by the Department of Mental Health, MUSC, and the South Carolina Bar Association.
The South Carolina Supreme Court Commission on Continuing Legal Education and Specialization has approved this activity for 6.5 CLE credit(s) which includes 0.75 Ethics and 5.75 Substance Abuse/Mental Health credit(s). Course approval # 256248 (in-person) and Course approval #256249ADO (online).
The South Carolina Board of Examiners in Psychology will approve 6.5 Category A credits.
The South Carolina Board of Social Work Examiners will approve approximately 6.5 hours of designated credit.
The South Carolina Board of Examiners for Licensure of Professional Counselors, Marriage and Family Therapists and Psycho-Educational Specialists will approve 6.5 hours of continuing education credit.
