Lauren Tucker, M.D.

Dr. Lauren Tucker is a native of Lancaster, SC. She completed her undergraduate training at Francis Marion University with a major in biology and minor in chemistry. She completed medical school and psychiatry residency training at the Medical University of South Carolina. She currently works as a telehealth psychiatrist for college students, but she plans to open her own private telehealth practice in 2022 with a goal to focus on minority mental health, sex and relationship therapy.

Were there many barriers or setbacks in your career? If so, how did you overcome them?

"I had a few setbacks with boards. This always led to self-doubt in an already intimidating field. To overcome this, I leaned into my support system, renewed my faith, and focused all my attention to accomplishing my goal. In doing so, I proved to myself that I have all the tools I need to succeed within me. I look back on those days anytime I doubt myself and it gives me the push I need to keep going."
