Pathways for Post-Bacc & Gap Year Students
Take the Next Step Toward Medical School
The time between college and medical school can be an important part of your preparation. Whether you are strengthening your academic record, preparing for the MCAT, gaining clinical experience, or getting ready to apply, PRIME offers programs and resources to help you move forward.
TARP: Targeted Advising, Recruitment, and Programming
TARP provides individualized advising for students preparing for medical school. One-on-one virtual sessions can focus on application strategy, MCAT preparation, experiences, personal statements, interview preparation, or other areas based on each student's needs.
SM3: Student Mentors and Mentees in Medicine
SM3 connects future physicians with current MUSC medical students for mentorship and insight into the journey to medical school. Mentees gain a medical student perspective while participating in programming designed to support their continued preparation.
PREP: Post-Baccalaureate Reapplication Education Program
PREP is an invitation-only post-baccalaureate pathway for previous applicants to the MUSC College of Medicine. Participants complete an additional year of academic preparation at the College of Charleston before matriculating to MUSC the following fall.
Summer Institute
Summer Institute is an intensive invitation-only summer MCAT preparation program designed to help previous College of Medicine applicants strengthen their MCAT score in order to reapply the next application cycle. Participants receive structured MCAT preparation along with advising, professional development, and opportunities to connect with the MUSC College of Medicine.
