Colorectal Surgeon Cyrus Feizpour MD Joins the MUSC Department of Surgery

The MUSC Department of Surgery is pleased to welcome colorectal surgeon Dr. Cyrus Feizpour to the Division of Colorectal Surgery.

Dr. Feizpour is a fellowship-trained colon and rectal surgeon who specializes in treating conditions of the colon, rectum, and anus, including colon and rectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticular disease, rectal prolapse, and other colorectal disorders. He is board-certified in general surgery and board-eligible in colon and rectal surgery.

He earned his medical degree at the University of Texas Medical Branch and completed his general surgery residency at Indiana University School of Medicine. During residency, Dr. Feizpour spent two years conducting research at UT Southwestern Medical Center, where he focused on improving patient care and surgical outcomes. He then completed his fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, one of the nation’s busiest colorectal centers.

Dr. Feizpour is committed to using minimally invasive and robotic surgical techniques whenever possible, allowing patients to recover more quickly and return to their daily activities. His patient care philosophy emphasizes taking the time to listen to each patient, clearly explaining treatment options, and tailoring care plans to meet individual needs. He is particularly dedicated to serving underserved communities, ensuring that all patients have access to high-quality colorectal care.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Feizpour is passionate about teaching and mentoring the next generation of surgeons. He finds it rewarding to help trainees develop both technical skills and the ability to make thoughtful, patient-centered decisions. He is an active member of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons, and his research has been presented at national meetings.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Feizpour is a lifelong Dallas Mavericks fan and enjoys staying active through tennis and basketball, as well as spending quality time with family and friends.
