Procedures & Ultrasound Training

Our fellows graduate proficient in a wide range of procedures. In addition to hands-on training, our fellows help supervise and teach our residents and APPs, and are often called on for the most challenging of procedures.

Procedural Experience

  • Ultrasound & Landmark Guided Arterial & Central Venous Catheter Placement
  • Swan Ganz Catheter Placement 
  • Large Bore Dialysis Catheter Placement
  • Diagnostic & Therapeutic Bronchoscopy
  • Chest Tube Insertion

All modern intensivists must be facile with point-of-care ultrasound to help diagnose and manage critical illness. Our fellows are no different and receive strong training in point-of-care ultrasound and critical care echocardiography with hands-on training, and a robust didactic series. In addition to transthoracic echocardiography, our fellows have the opportunity to do hands-on transesophageal echo training with our Cardiothoracic Anesthesiologists in the operating room.
