Message From Dr. Scott Reeves

The Department of Anesthesia's “can-do” mentality along with all that our beautiful city has to offer creates a wonderful environment in which to train, work and live.

Career Development & Advisors

The Program Director, Dr. George Guldan, serves as the faculty advisor for residents during the intern year. At the end of the intern year when residents start OR rotations, each resident chooses a faculty advisor who, along with Dr. Guldan, can provide educational advice, career mentoring, and personal support during the entire residency.

Our goal is to support the career development plans for our residents. As such, our residents meet regularly with their faculty advisor and the Program Director to discuss their individual goals. MUSC does recruit staff anesthesiologists from its own training program and fellowships. Thus, after completion of the anesthesiology residency, career opportunities may be available at MUSC. However, most of our residents go on to complete fellowships at other institutions. We have an excellent track record of placing our residents into the fellowship of their choice in all of the subspecialties at programs across the nation. Recent graduates have gone on to fellowship training in Peds, Critical Care, Pain, CT, OB, and Perioperative Medicine & Informatics at programs including Brigham Women’s, Vanderbilt, Johns Hopkins, University of Pittsburgh, and Stanford, just to name a few.

We welcome the opportunity to give you excellent training and to assist you in becoming an excellent anesthesiologist and perioperative physician.
