The Department of Emergency Medicine Research was created to support a growing number of faculty researchers in multidisciplinary collaborative research endeavors. The Research Division conducts basic science, translational, and clinical research in several settings on the Medical University of South Carolina campus and at collaborative academic institutions. The Division has grown rapidly to now involve eight faculty members with significant research efforts.
The Department of Emergency Medicine Research is committed to improving overall Health care through innovative research, and is equally committed to providing research education to medical students, emergency medicine residents, allied health care providers, and junior faculty members. Current research activities involving MUSC collaborations include the Departments of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Biostatistics Bioinformatics, and Epidemiology, Medicine, Neurosciences, Pediatrics, and Surgery. Additionally, several investigators are involved in NIH funded multi-center studies.
