Rural Clerkship Calendar

The Student Calendar

  • At the beginning of each rotation, students receive a calendar in their orientation packets. The calendar originated from student suggestions to have one "quick reference" document that included all requirements and deadlines.
  • Students have responsibilities and activities with both rural preceptors in the clinical setting and with MUSC Family Medicine faculty members in didactic activities at MUSC.
  • It is the student's responsibility to give his/her rural preceptor a copy of the calendar so that the preceptor is aware of the student's schedule
  • Below is a typical schedule
  • All sessions are mandatory

Prior to the beginning of the rotation, students will be contacted by the MUSC clerkship coordinator with credentialing information. Once approved the coordinator will send you further information about when/where to report to your site. AHEC community site coordinators (different for each of the four regions) will also provide students with detailed information (mailed to student's home address or e-mailed to student's MUSC e-mail address). If you are staying in AHEC housing they will also provide that information. Students are encouraged to communicate with the MUSC clerkship coordinators or the AHEC community site coordinator to address questions and/or concerns prior to the rotation.
