Division of Infectious Diseases

Under the leadership of Cassandra Salgado, M.D., MS, the Division of Infectious Diseases excels in patient-centered clinical care, research, and education. Faculty lead essential MUSC programs, including infection control, antimicrobial stewardship, vascular access, and transplant infectious diseases. For over 25 years, the division has provided comprehensive HIV care, supported by the HRSA Ryan White Program and SC DHEC. Research focuses on HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, antimicrobial resistance, and more, while educational initiatives prepare future leaders in infectious diseases.

Education

The MUSC Division of Infectious Diseases offers comprehensive fellowship programs, including a two-year Infectious Diseases Fellowship and a one-year Transplant Infectious Diseases Fellowship, designed to provide extensive clinical training and research opportunities.
