At the Medical University of South Carolina, the Division of Nephrology offers nationally distinguished fellowship programs that prepare physicians to lead in the diagnosis, treatment, and research of kidney disease and transplantation. Nephrology Fellowship

The MUSC Nephrology Fellowship provides comprehensive training in the full spectrum of kidney care, including dialysis, transplantation, and clinical research. Fellows rotate through multiple hospitals, including the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center, gaining experience in inpatient and outpatient nephrology, home dialysis, and renal procedures such as biopsies and catheter placements. Faculty mentors emphasize evidence-based medicine, lifelong learning, and wellness to develop independent, well-rounded nephrologists.

Transplant Nephrology Fellowship

The Transplant Nephrology Fellowship offers up to two one-year positions within MUSC’s nationally ranked Transplant Center, performing nearly 300 renal transplants annually. Fellows engage in every aspect of kidney and pancreas transplantation, from pre-operative evaluations to long-term post-transplant care, while collaborating with leaders in surgery, pharmacy, and infectious diseases. Graduates emerge prepared to direct transplant programs and contribute to impactful clinical research.
