Choosing a residency program is one of the most important decisions you will make in your medical career. As chief residents, we remember exactly what it felt like to navigate the interview trail, compare programs, and search for a place that felt like home. We hope this website provides insight into our training program, but more importantly, we hope it captures the supportive,collaborative, and resident-centered culture that makes MUSC Neurology truly special.
Our chief resident team reflects the diverse backgrounds, interests, and personalities that make MUSC Neurology such a vibrant place to train. Ronnie Pipaliya, a South Carolina native, will be pursuing a career in Clinical Neurophysiology. Outside the hospital, he enjoys long walks on the beach with his wife and their tiny dog, preferably with a sandwich in hand from his favorite local breakfast spot, Baguette Magic. Matthew Bonds, originally from Alabama, plans to specialize in Headache Medicine and is passionate about resident education and mentorship. When he's away from work, you'll likely find him tending his garden or exploring Charleston's farmers markets in search of fresh local ingredients. Meg McCalley, also an Alabama native, plans to practice General Neurology and has focused much of her leadership on resident wellness, mentorship, and fostering a strong sense of community within the program. She loves spending time outdoors and can often be found at the beach, on the water, or enjoying Charleston's natural beauty. Julia Kepley, from Maryland, will be pursuing a fellowship in Epilepsy and brings a creative spirit to everything she does. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and her dog, Papi.
Together, we represent a wide range of career paths and interests, but we share a common passion for supporting our residents, caring for our patients, and making MUSC Neurology a place where people can thrive both professionally and personally.
Clinically, MUSC offers an outstanding training experience with exposure to a wide breadth of neurological disease, a high-volume tertiary referral center, and dedicated faculty who are deeply invested in resident education. Whether your interests lie in general neurology, subspecialty fellowship training, research, medical education, or community practice, you will find mentors and opportunities to help you achieve your goals.
