Division of Adolescent Medicine

Programs

  • Adolescent Medicine Consult Clinic – patients are referred for evaluation and limited follow-up of complex conditions occurring during adolescence such as treatment of chronic illnesses, poor school performance, ADHD and learning disabilities, depression and anxiety, substance misuse, obesity and eating disorders, and contraception (including placement of Nexplanon).
  • Burke School-based Clinic – students enrolled at Burke High School or Simmons Pinckney Middle School can be seen at a weekly clinic located at the school. Signed parental consent is required prior to first visit. Services include management of chronic illnesses (such as ADHD and asthma), treatment of acute illnesses, sports preparticipation physicals, and telemedicine. Contraceptive services are not provided.
  • MUSC Health Center for Eating Disorders – patients are seen for evaluation, counseling and medical treatment, using a Family-based Treatment approach. Services includes a weekly appointment as well as an Intensive Outpatient Treatment program with 3 appointments a week and a partial hospitalization program with care 5 days a week.
  • The Boeing Center for Children’s Wellness – promotes wellness of all children and prevention of obesity by supporting childcare centers and schools in making healthy changes. Programs include the South Carolina Program for Infant and Toddler Care, the Breastfeeding Friendly Childcare Center designation, and the Docs Adopt School Health Initiative©.
