Pediatric Hospital Medicine Fellowship

The mission of the Pediatric Hospital Medicine (PHM) fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is to prepare pediatricians for faculty positions as academic pediatric hospitalists. Our fellowship has a strong research focus while meeting the clinical and educational requirements of the developing subspecialty of pediatric hospital medicine. We have a strong track record of training academic hospitalists, and 100% of our hospitalist graduates currently hold faculty positions at children's hospitals.

MUSC Children’s Hospital is the only children’s hospital in the area and the largest referral center in the region. We are made up of 31 pediatric subspecialties with faculty that staff a top 20 nationally-ranked pediatric heart program, and top 10 nationally-ranked neonatal and pediatric emergency services.

Our large referral base benefits from state-of-the-art care provided in our 185-bed facility. In-turn, our trainees benefit from the cultural, economic, and medical diversity of this unique patient group. With 100,000 annual clinic visits and over 5,000 inpatient admissions, we see the full spectrum from the well-child to rare diseases that present a once in a lifetime learning opportunity.
