Lowcountry Period Project
The Department of Public Health Sciences hosts an annual drive to collect feminine hygiene products for the Lowcountry Period Project. This is a nonprofit in our area that provides feminine products to women and girls in need. Products are assembled into packs with various items and distributed in schools, shelters, and blessing boxes. Since 2020, DPHS has collected and donated supplies for over 1,000 packs that were distributed throughout the Charleston area.
Joseph Floyd Manor Care Package Distribution
The DPHS Public Health Society has partnered with nonprofit organizations in the area to provide assistance at the Joseph Floyd Manor. This public housing facility is designated for elderly and disabled citizens and is located in the upper peninsula area of Charleston. Volunteers from DPHS assist in giving out hygiene items and nonperishable goods to residents in this community.
