Women in Radiology

The MUSC Department of Radiology Women in Radiology (WIR) group is composed of residents, fellows, and faculty, and since its inception, the goal has been to support and promote personal and professional growth of female radiologists.

 

Our department has female representation in almost every sub-specialty of diagnostic radiology; which helps foster and aid in mentorship and build a supportive network for students, residents, and fellows. We also celebrate a higher percentage of female residents than the national average, including multiple female residents in each residency class. The WIR group also involves medical students with hopes of improving the pipeline of female students interested in radiology.

 

Our WIR group has multiple social gatherings throughout the year. One special annual event is Camp Happy Days holiday gift wrapping party!  We fundraise and sponsor multiple families with children battling cancer and provide them holiday gifts. Our group offers support to one another and volunteers time to give back to our community.

 

We are also active in the national American Association for Women in Radiology (AAWR).
