The Department of Regenerative Medicine and Cell Biology is a nexus for biomedical science education at MUSC. We teach scientific foundations of medicine to tomorrow's doctors, mentor emerging biomedical researchers, and regularly bring world-renowned experts to campus. Our commitment to education is as strong as our commitment to discovery, creating an environment where the next generation of scientists and physicians can thrive.

Academic Programs

Medical Student Education

In addition to instructing essential courses in the medical school curriculum, many research and teaching faculty members are academic coaches to medical students or research mentors to medical students in the FLEX Scholarly Concentration course’s Regenerative Medicine and Cell Biology track.

Graduate Education

The Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biomedical Sciences degree program offers areas of study mentored by Department of Regenerative Medicine and Cell Biology faculty, supported by department facilities, and with rotations through department labs.

Professional Development

The weekly Digestive Disease Seminar Series brings the latest digestive disease research from around the world to a broad cross-section of the MUSC research community. The series has hosted more than 60 speakers, including National Academy members and Nobel Laureates, since 2019.
