Participating in Research
Learn more about the Youth Collaborative and the variety of opportunities we offer to fit different individual's needs.
The MUSC Youth Collaborative is a group of substance use and mental health professionals dedicated to fostering healthy development and positively impacting the community while also encouraging young people to pursue careers in science and discovery. We offer clinical services, paid research opportunities, and educational programs, including classroom and community presentations focused on preventing and addressing youth substance use.
At the Youth Collaborative, we understand that finding the right research study can be challenging. That's why we offer a variety of opportunities to fit the needs of our participants. We work closely with individuals ages 12 and up taking into consideration factors such as time commitment, type of study, and potential benefits. We also offer clinical services and partner with local schools to educate students and their parents.
Some of our studies are longer and require a more significant time commitment, while others are shorter and only require 1-2 visits. Additionally, we offer treatment studies, to help individuals reduce their substance use, as well as observational studies that require no change in behavior. Our goal is to provide a range of options so that individuals can choose the study that best aligns with their interests.
We understand that not every research study will be a good fit for every individual. That's why we take the time to understand our participants' needs and goals and work with them to find the best option for their specific situation. We have established relationships with a network of professionals and organizations and can provide referrals to other resources and programs that may be better suited for your needs.
