In FY25, several multidisciplinary teams and programs were recognized for improving patient care through clinical expertise, innovation, and collaboration.
Just five years after opening, the MUSC Health South Carolina Burn Center has earned verification status from the American Burn Association. That puts it among 40 other burn centers in the U.S. and Canada that have verification for both pediatric and adult burn care. Steven Kahn, M.D., Chief of Burn Surgery and medical director of the Burn Center, emphasized the significance of the recent verification. He called it a testament to his team’s dedication to delivering the highest-quality, patient-centered burn care.
MUSC Health has earned a distinguished three-star rating from The Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) for its patient care and outcomes in coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) procedures. The three-star CABG Composite Quality Rating, which denotes the highest category of quality, places MUSC Health Cardiac Surgery among the elite for heart bypass surgery in the United States and Canada.
Fighting pancreatic disease takes more than one kind of expertise – and at MUSC Health and MUSC Hollings Cancer Center, it’s all found under one roof. Surgeons, oncologists and researchers work side by side to deliver the most advanced and comprehensive care available. That care was recently recognized by the National Pancreas Foundation. The foundation re-designated MUSC Health as a Center of Excellence for pancreatitis and, for the first time, designated MUSC Hollings Cancer Center as a Center of Excellence for Pancreatic Cancer.
Adam Tanious, M.D., MMSc, has been appointed Medical Director of the new MUSC Health Dialysis Access Institute–Charleston, which provides a centralized process for the care of all dialysis patients at MUSC Charleston as well as in the greater Charleston area.
