Teaching Hospitals

Learn more about the teaching hospitals that each resident will rotate through during their time at MUSC below.

Medical University Hospital- This is the main hospital at MUSC, which is a 700-bed University hospital and research center. MUSC educates and trains more than 3,000 students and 700 residents in 6 colleges (Medicine, Dental Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Health Professions, and Graduate Studies). The MUSC University Hospital has been named a "Top 100" hospital for the last 10 years. 

Ashley River Tower- First opened in 2008, Ashley River Tower (also referred to as ART) is an example of MUSC's commitment to patients and their families. This is a 156-bed hospital that includes an ICU, ORs, and Labs.

Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital- Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital has been a Level 1 Trauma Center, 250-bed pediatric hospital focused on more than 26 specialty areas since it opened in February 2020. 

Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center - The VA Medical Center (VAMC) provides the highest-level quality complex care to over 75,000 veterans along the South Carolina and Georgia coast. This hospital has 152 beds and includes 6 community-based outpatient clinics, a 20-bed nursing home, women's health, a medical and surgical ICU, and more inpatient and outpatient care.
