Carroll A. Campbell, Jr. Neuropathology Laboratory

The Carroll A. Campbell, Jr. Neuropathology Laboratory (CCNL) was founded in 2009 to enhance postmortem diagnostics and research on healthy aging and neurological disorders. These disorders include amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease, autism, Down syndrome, depression, epilepsy, hearing loss, Huntington’s disease, Parkinson’s Disease, Pick’s disease, and stroke. Our brain bank is a centralized donation center to support research in SC and abroad. We are sponsored by the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina located in Charleston, SC.

South Carolinians are Research Heroes.  Brain donors from all regions of South Carolina have empowered research projects in the USA and in other nations. Every donor makes a long-lasting difference for research. We currently have over 300 registered donors in SC and welcome you to join.
