Externship

More than 30 Externships are offered in the course catalog across a variety of specialties, and each Externship utilizes a set of objectives that is tailored to its clinical setting, patient population, and student experience.

Externship Objectives:

Please visit the course catalog on Brightspace to review objectives for a specific Externship. However, at the completion of all Externships, students should be able to do the following:

 

1. Demonstrate skills expected of interns, including giving and receiving a handoff, writing inpatient orders for signature, preparing a discharge summary to share, calling a consult, and assisting in obtaining informed consent for a procedure or treatment. (PC7, CS1, CS2)
