Employee Recognition Program
The Department of Medicine Employee of the Quarter program was established to showcase employees who have shown exemplary strides in contributing to the Department of Medicine and to the MUSC community.
Each quarter, the Department of Medicine honors up to four staff members who contribute to our mission through their exceptional dedication, initiative, motivation, positive attitude, customer service and passion about their work. In the case of a tie, there may be more than four.
How does the nomination process work?
Physicians, patients, and colleagues may nominate any non-faculty employee working in the department. All nominations are blinded and reviewed by the department's Selection Committee, and selected employees are announced on a quarterly basis. Employee of the Quarter winners are honored at the Employee Recognition Celebrations hosted by the department each quarter. In addition, winners receive a monetary reward for their hard work and excellence, and a chance to be selected as the Department of Medicine's Employee of the Year or Medicine Excellence winner!
The program requires thoroughly-detailed nominations (at least 2 paragraphs) to be competitive. Examples include: exceptional effort on a project or activity, cost-savings to a Division/Unit; receipt of a work-related honor; recognition by a patient, colleague or customer; or overall consistent, outstanding customer service/job performance in any mission area (research, education, clinical, administration).
Submission Process: Nominations may be submitted by anyone in the Department of Medicine or MUSC.
Eligible employees: Individual staff in all non-faculty categories (i.e. research, administrative, clinical, classified). Former Employee of the Quarter winners are eligible for subsequent nomination twelve (12) months following selection.
Ineligible employees: Trainees (residents, fellows, post-doctoral fellows, graduate students), faculty, work teams, selection committee members, previous Employee of the Quarter winners form the past 12 months, temporary agency employees, and employees under disciplinary action or review. Note: Nominations do not roll-over, so please re-submit nominations for employees who have not won.
