Epilepsy & Clinical Neurophysiology International Research Fellowship

  • Level 4 Epilepsy Center serving the state of South Carolina, as well as eastern Georgia and parts of North Carolina, and Tennessee.
  • 750 bed hospital.
  • 8 bed adult Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) admitting 20 patients per month.
  • 4 bed pediatric EMU admitting 12 to 14 patients per month.
  • Daily routine EEGs.
  • All fellowship activities in one hospital.
  • Remote access to EEG, patient records, and imaging studies.
  • High adult and pediatric epilepsy surgical volume.
  • Cortical functional mapping.
  • Close relationships with Neuroradiology.
  • Clinical trial experience.
  • Weekly Refractory Epilepsy Committee comprised of epileptologists, neurosurgeon, radiologists, nuclear medicine specialists, neuropsychologists, speech therapists, social workers, and other staff.
  • Ketogenic and Modifies Atkins Diet for Epilepsy program.
  • 30 to 40 WADA procedures per year.
  • AmericanBoard of Clinical Neurophysiology (ABCN) certified attendings, including active members in the ACNS.
  • Weekly lectures by neurophysiology attendings.
  • State-of-the-art Neuroimaging including 3T MRI, functional MRI, PET, ictal, and interictal SPECT.
  • Intraoperative Neurophysiological Monitoring.
  • 2 to 4 scholars per year.
  • Charleston (top vacation destination in the US in 2011 and 3rd in the world.)

Application Requirements

  • 6 months or 1 year (preferable) tracks.
  • Current Curriculum Vitae (CV).
  • Two to Three letters of recommendation.
  • Personal statement describing your background, clinical & research interests, and career plans.
  • Good to excellent English proficiency (please submit if you have any ESL certificates, like TOEFL).
  • Evidence of funding support for the fellowship.
  • A skype interview will be conducted to assess the candidate's English language proficiency.
