Fundraising & Community Events
The Department welcomes all community support of our mental health awareness and fundraising initiatives. There are many ways to support us, ranging from hosting a fundraiser, supporting our Weekly Chair's Update, financial contributions, in-kind donations, to volunteering with our team.
Mental Health Initiatives
Giving online is easy, fast, and secure. You can make your online gift using your credit/debit card. Please note, MUSC's fiscal year runs from July 1 to June 30. Every gift of any size truly makes a difference and allows us to change what’s possible here at MUSC.
Community Fundraising Activities
Gift-in-kind, or GIK, is a type of charitable giving in which contributions take the form of tangible goods rather than money — whether that be art supplies, clothing and games — contributions large and small continue to make a difference. Please visit our Wish Lists for our in-patient program and our STAR program for more details.

Chair's Weekly Update Supporter
The Psychiatry Chair's Update is a weekly email sent to all Psychiatry and Psychology faculty, adjunct faculty, administration, staff, and community partners. For details on how to become a supporter, email psych-events@musc.edu.
Sponsor an Educational Event
With over 10 continuing educational conferences and an academic-year long Grand Rounds series hosted annually, there are a wide array of opportunities to show your support for mental health while simultaneously showcasing your business to community mental health providers. For details on how to become a sponsor, email us for more information.
Volunteering
Protecting our clients’ privacy is vital to our mission. For that reason, we don’t use volunteers on a daily or weekly basis. We welcome volunteer help in many other ways, though.
- Host a year-round or holiday supply drive.
- Eagle Scout and High School community service projects
- Organize a community fundraiser like a garage sale, lemonade stand or other classroom, club, church or sorority/fraternity event.
Please email us at psych-events@musc.edu if you’d like to make MUSC Psychiatry a beneficiary of your project or event. We can even help with your event marketing materials.
