The MUSC SCORE is a specialized research center focused on sex and gender-based multidisciplinary research

The MUSC SCORE is a specialized research center that is focused on sex and gender-based multidisciplinary research. It is currently one of 11 SCORE centers in the country.

Originally funded in 2000 as the MUSC Specialized Center of Research (SCOR), renewed funding from the National Institute on Drug Abuse and the Office of Research on Women’s Health in 2018 will allow research to continue into 2023.

The renewed funding period marks the transition to a Specialized Center of Research Excellence (SCORE). As such, it will continue to reach across the MUSC campus, but will now also extend its reach nationwide via cross-SCORE collaborations and community-based initiatives focused on dissemination of research findings to improve health outcomes.
