Dr. Eugene Chang joined MUSC Women's Care as a maternal fetal medicine specialist in 2005 and has focused on fetal complications in pregnancy since that time. Dr. Chang graduated undergrad from the University of Virginia. He graduated medical school from the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia. His residency and fellowship training were completed at the Medical University of South Carolina.

Dr. Chang focused most of his research efforts on detecting growth abnormalities and ways to prevent cerebral palsy in at-risk unborn babies while maintaining an interest in detecting and evaluating fetal abnormalities and helping families manage these pregnancies. Recently he has also pursued training in order to offer treatment for twin-twin transfusions.

Dr. Change knows that many medical specialists can be needed during such pregnancies, making coordination challenging. In complex cases, for instance, balancing the best care for both mother and baby can be difficult. For this reason, he partnered with pediatric cardiologist Dr. Sinai Zyblewski to create MUSC Health's Advanced Fetal Care Center.

Dr. Chang's interests include hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, preterm birth, intrauterine growth restriction, thrombophilia, and ultrasound oxidative stress.

Dr. Rachael Cowherd joined MUSC Women's Care as an obstetrician and gynecologist in 2019. She was raised in Orlando, Florida, and earned her undergraduate degree in chemistry at Wake Forest University where she graduated summa cum laude with Phi Beta Kappa honors.

Dr. Cowherd then attended the Gilling School of Global Public Health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she received a Master of Public Health in Nutrition and was elected into the Delta Omega Honorary Society in Public Health. She served as a registered dietitian and clinical research assistant at the University of North Carolina Nutrition Obesity Research Center from 2010 to 2011. She then went on to earn her Medical Degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and was awarded inductions into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and Gold Humanism Honor Society. She completed her residency at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois.

Dr. Cowherd is committed to practicing evidence-based medicine, building strong connections with her patients, and teaching medical students and residents. Her clinical interests include uterine fibroids, irregular menstrual bleeding, vulvar disorders, well women care, minimally invasive surgery, gynecological surgery, sexually transmitted infection screening, obstetrics, and vaginal birth after cesarean section (VBAC).

Gweneth B. Lazenby, M.D., MSCR is a graduate of the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). She obtained her obstetrics and gynecology residency training from the University of Hawaii. She returned to MUSC and was the first fellow to complete the RID fellowship. She is currently obtaining a certificate in Global Health.

Dr. Lazenby's clinical work and research are focused in maternal HIV and sexually transmitted infections, especially Trichomonas vaginalis. Dr. Lazenby is the director of the gynecology and maternal HIV clinics at MUSC and she is dually appointed in the departments of Medicine and Obstetrics and Gynecology. She serves on the NIH HIV Perinatal Guidelines committee and is an active member of the Infectious Diseases Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr. Michelle Meglin joined the faculty of MUSC in 2015. She received her undergraduate degree from Davidson College and completed medical school at Wake Forest University. She completed OB/GYN residency training at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA.

Dr. Meglin provides comprehensive gynecological care, and her special interests include pediatric and adolescent gynecology, minimally invasive surgery, abnormal uterine bleeding, and contraception. She received the ABOG Focused Practice Designation in Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology in 2022. She is committed to the education of medical students and residents, evidence-based medicine, and excellent patient care.

Dr. Brian Orr is a gynecologic oncologist at Hollings Cancer Center and assistant professor at Medical University of South Carolina. He completed residency at the University of South Florida and fellowship training at the University of Pittsburgh. As faculty at University of Pittsburgh, he completed a master's degree in Clinical and Translational Science.

In addition to clinical activities of minimally invasive surgery, chemotherapy, and HIPEC for gynecologic cancer patients, he is active in clinical research. Dr. Orr's research interests are in translational clinical trial development for ovarian, uterine, cervical, and vulvar cancers. His expertise is in immunotherapy and targeted therapies.

Dr. Justin Harold is a gynecologic oncologist at Hollings Cancer Center. Born and raised in rural South Carolina, he went to Clemson University and then University of South Carolina for medical school. He completed residency at Medical College of Wisconsin and then fellowship training at Yale. His research interests in fellowship included testing new targeted therapies for uterine leiomyosarcoma and uterine serous carcinoma. Dr. Harold's specialties include radical surgery for ovarian cancer, minimally invasive surgery (robotic, laparoscopic, and vaginal), and surgery for vulvar cancer.

Dr. Victoria Keiser grew up in East Hanover, New Jersey. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Physiology from Boston University. She attended medical school at Virginia Commonwealth University. She then went on to complete her residency training in Obstetrics & Gynecology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

During her training, Dr. Keiser gained interest in reducing health disparities and improving outcomes for marginalized patient populations, particularly patients experiencing homelessness and substance use disorders.

Dr. Keiser provides comprehensive and evidence-based OBGYN care. Her primary clinical interests include minimally invasive GYN surgery, abnormal uterine bleeding, contraception, and obstetrics. She is active in the training of both medical students and residents.

Dr. Lindsay Rucker is a South Carolina native. She attended the University of South Carolina and graduated magna cum laude while studying biomedical engineering with a minor in chemistry. She then graduated with her M.D. from the Medical University of South Carolina, where she was inducted as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. She completed her residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham with awards for excellence in minimally invasive surgery and education.

Dr. Rucker provides comprehensive obstetrics and gynecological services, and her special interests include minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, obstetrics, and vaginal birth after cesarean delivery.

David E. Soper, M.D. is one of the most well recognized experts in obstetrical and gynecological infectious diseases in the United States as well as internationally. He undertook his medical school training at the University of Miami School of Medicine in Miami, Florida and his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the Naval Regional Medical Center in San Diego, California. His interest in academic medicine spurred his interest in infectious diseases and he took a fellowship in Infectious Diseases in the Department of Medicine at NRMC San Diego following his ob/gyn residency. He is one of only a handful of physicians worldwide with formal training in both ob/gyn and infectious diseases.

Dr. Soper’s research involves infections in women. He has extensive experience in the study of vaginitis and pelvic inflammatory disease. He performed some of the sentinel work relating bacterial vaginosis to the occurrence of postoperative hysterectomy infections and acute salpingitis as well as defining the microbial etiology of PID. He remains interested in sexually transmitted infections and pelvic inflammatory disease and has been involved in federally funded projects involving; the transmission of gonorrhea, lower genital tract infections and their relationship to douching and other behaviors (GIFT) and a longitudinal trial following the largest cohort of women with PID ever studied in this country (PEACH). He is a consultant to the Centers for Disease Control for updating the Sexually Transmitted Disease Treatment Guidelines. He is currently involved in studying the HPV vaccine. He also has experience in the prevention and treatment of obstetrical infections specifically chorioamnionitis and postpartum infections. He has a long history of collaboration with world class investigators throughout the country.

Dr. Soper has authored over 100 scientific publications related to infectious diseases in obstetrics and gynecology. His textbook, co-edited with Sebastion Faro, is well respected in this country and now is available in Spanish. He is a sought after speaker at postgraduate courses and for Grand Rounds.
