2025 Charleston Vestibular Conference

Program Overview:

The three-day conference will focus on how to evaluate and manage patients with vestibular disorders. The course is led by MUSC’s Habib R. Rizk, MD, MSc, Rebecca English, OTR/L, PT, MSR, DPT, Elizabeth Poth, AuD, CCC-A; and Michael Teixido, MD, of Thomas Jefferson University, University of Pennsylvania, Delaware Otologic Medicine and Surgery Fellowship, Wilmington, DE. Guest faculty include Jeffrey P. Staab, MD, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN; Janene Holmberg, PT, DPT, Intermountain Health, Murray, UT; and Megan Kobel, AuD, PhD, CCC-A, University of Arizona, Tucson. ‌

The course will provide current knowledge and best practices in serving patients with vestibular disorders. A hands-on lab will cover the clinical and paraclinical evaluation of patients with dizziness and the basic therapy principles for various vestibular disorders. The course suits all skill levels and offers in-person and virtual lectures.

Conference Objectives:

Upon completion of this conference, participants should be better able to:

  • Evaluate comprehensively a patient with dizziness. ‌
  • Assess the importance and prevalence of vestibular migraine as a cause of dizziness.
  • Detect and treat atypical forms of BPPV.
  • Diagnose and manage Persistent Postural-Perceptual Dizziness (PPPD)
  • Discuss cortical processing of space and motion information and the practical clinical implications of vestibular relativity.
  • Discuss assessment of vestibular thresholds and implications for diagnosis and management of vestibular disorders.

Target Audience:

The target audience for the conference include the following: Otolaryngologists, Audiologists, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Neurologists, Internists, Family Practitioners, Pediatricians, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, VNG/ENG Technicians

Online Syllabus:

In our efforts to “go green”, an online syllabus will be provided to all attendees. Information will be emailed to you prior to the conference so that you may download a copy. Internet connection will also be available in the meeting room.

Credit Designation:

Lecture: The Medical University of South Carolina designates this live activity for a maximum of 17.5  AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. 

Lab: The Medical University of South Carolina designates this live activity for a maximum of 4.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.  

The CME Office will be applying for ASHA, SCAPTA, SCOTA and American Academy of Audiology Accreditation for this conference. Unless credit is noted otherwise, all non-physicians attending the conference would receive CEU Credits. ( 0.1 credit = 1 contact hour )

Conference Cancellation:

A refund will be made upon written request prior to October 6, 2025; however $100 will be retained for administrative costs. No refunds will be made after October 6, 2025. We reserve the right to cancel the conference if necessary. Full registration fees will be refunded for canceled programs. The Medical University of South Carolina cannot be responsible for reimbursement of airline or other transportation fares, hotel or rental car charges, including penalties. By registering for this conference, you acknowledge and agree to this cancellation policy.

A block of rooms has been reserved at the Hyatt Place Charleston, 560 King Street, Charleston, SC 29403. The conference rate is $279 and the room block for conference registrants will be held until Monday, October 6, 2025. The room block may fill prior to this date and availability cannot be guaranteed. We suggest you make your reservation as soon as possible. Please note, the group room block will be available soon. ‌

‌Parking: Current Parking fees per day are as follows: Valet Parking rate is currently $48.00 per day & will be charged to individual guest rooms on a nightly basis. Self-parking is located in the Charleston County Municipal Parking Garage located behind the Hotel. Self-parking is a separate charge paid directly to the garage upon exiting. Current fee is $24.00 per day, and subject to change.
