Current Research

The department has a wide range of funded research which is currently active. Examples include cancer disparities (with South Carolina State University), dental hypoplasia (with MUSC Pediatrics), environmental influences on Child Health Outcomes (ECHO, NIH Directors office and 10 other institutions), Ontology fingerprinting (with MUSC Center for Genomic Medicine), stroke research (StrokeNet network, NINDS), acute emergency care(SIREN network, NINDS and NHLBI), health surveys of Chile (with Luxembourg Institute of Health), sickle cell novel care network (with MUSC Pediatrics and NHLBI), and tobacco cessation (with MUSC Hollings Cancer Center, NCI and Yale University).
