Medical Students

The Department of Urology at the Medical University of South Carolina is committed to providing excellent educational opportunities for medical students. The goal is to provide exposure to the urologic team in both clinics and the operating rooms as well as dedicated didactic teaching time. At the Medical University of South Carolina, our department covers the full breath of pediatric and adult urology, with each of the adult subspecialties being represented. We coordinate closely with the Medical School to provide the most up to date medical school curriculum for our students.

3rd Year Clerkship

A 2-week course taken during the Internal Medicine clerkship that allows for an introduction into urology. The goal is to provide an educational experience within urology to help decide if urology would be the right career for you. Students will spend time in the OR, clinics, and with didactic teaching to learn as much about urology as possible in this short rotation.

4th Year Sub-Internship

A 4-week more intensive course that would be taken early in 4th year. Sub-interns are expected to actively participate as members of the urologic team, helping with inpatient care, outpatient care, consults and emergency care/procedures, and of course within the operating room. The goal is to provide in-depth teaching and training that you will be able to utilize and call upon as you begin your career in urology.

Visiting Student Sub-Internship

We always love to have visiting students spend time with us at the Medical University of South Carolina. The course goals and expectations are the same as the 4th year subinternship above.
