Emergency Medicine

The Pediatric Emergency Medicine Division has twenty faculty members; eight of whom are board certified in pediatric emergency medicine, four in emergency medicine and the remainder in pediatrics. We currently provide 24-hour care to 25,000 patients per year in our 12-bed Pediatric Emergency Department and with the construction of the Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital, which is set to open in the fall of 2019, the new ED will have 18 beds with expansive trauma/resuscitation rooms, a dedicated orthopedic room, and dedicated psychiatric safe rooms with an additional 6-8 beds to flex.

Pediatric and emergency medicine residents and medical students have clinical rotations in our emergency department. Our Pediatric Emergency Medicine fellowship training program is ACGME accredited.

After Hours Care

The Pediatric Emergency Medicine Division operates MUSC's After Hours Care clinics. After Hours Care is comprised of 3 free-standing acute care clinics, all of which are open 365 days per year. These sites host an additional 25,000 patient visits each year.
