WARDrobe Project

Welcome to the IOP WARDRobe

Many of the patients who come to The Institute of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences in-patient unit are admitted with only the clothes they arrive in, and some have no access to other clothing. It is not uncommon for a patient to remain at the unit for more than five days with only the clothes they were wearing when they arrived. Unlike other hospital floors, patients staying within the Institute of Psychiatry are expected to wear regular clothes throughout their stay.

Patients are admitted because they require immediate medical treatment. Many can live a significant distance away from the hospital or face circumstances that limit a loved ones’ ability to bring items to the hospital. An extended stay at the hospital is intimidating and the aim of our WARDrobe project is to provide a variety of clothing options for our patients, so that they can focus on their treatment, not their missing socks.

We are seeking donations for the following clothing items in children's sizes (ages 10 to 18) and adult sizes medium through 2x-large:

We have many of the most needed items listed on our Wish List.

Donations can be dropped off at the security desk at The Institute of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences Building at 67 President Street in Charleston, SC from 9 a.m. through 3 p.m. Monday-Friday.
Please reference the CECAR WARDrobe when dropping off your donations.
